About the Artist: Lana Williams studied textile design at Rhode Island School of Design, and Central Saint Martins in London, where she mainly focused on knitwear, weaving and print. It was pre-destined that she would become an artist/designer coming from a family legacy of artists, designers and skilled tailors.

Aritst Statement: I’ve always known that I was meant to create. I made a decision one rainy afternoon in London after working one too many bar jobs, that from now on I would only do things that I love to do and that make me happy and give back to disadvantaged communities … Like knitting and creating wearable art! I got right to it while still in school at Central Saint Martins and started selling my collections at Spitifields, a local market in east London, quitting those lousy bar jobs and headed down an unknown and exciting path! I soon moved to Greece and while on a vacation one summer I got stopped by some women, as I was walking down the street sporting about four Lana bags.  They asked… “Are those fabulous bags for sale?”… Low and behold they were defiantly for sale along with the shrugs I had inside of them… They bought everything I had on me, and from that day on I have been passionately and constantly knitting, drawing and traveling knowing that creating is what I was meant too do! I am now selling internationally and growing constantly… My constant international travel is part of my mission to create collections inspired by the places I visit and made from local and recycled materials that I find in the various countries I travel to each year. Starting in 2008 I will be living with rural communities throughout the world and doing fair trade projects with economically disadvantaged communities… Also, each season the hand printed tee-shirt collections are inspired and drawn in and about the countries I am exploring… be sure to check out our featured country for more information about these exciting new fair trade projects! Tell your friends!  Better yet, buy a one-of-a kind Lana design for a friend.  I'm sure that you will be hooked by what you discover on my website, as so many people through the US and the world have been so far by my work.  Thanks for stopping by; I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy making it!
